The word "Apache" {pronounced uh-pach'-ee} comes from the Yuma word for "fighting-men". It also comes from a Zuni word meaning "enemy". The earliest Spaniards exploring New Mexico referred to Navajo as "Apachis de Nabaju", hence the word Apache. The Apaches are well-known for their superior skills in warfare strategy and their inexhaustible endurance. Continuous wars amongst other tribes and invaders from Mexico enhanced the Apaches' growing reputation of having a warlike character. However the Apache are also described as a gentle people; faithful in their friendship.

We chose the Apache name for our company as we have great respect and admiration for the Native American peoples. We like to feel that we share some of the Apaches' attributes such as their tenacity, cunningness and dogged determination when faced with a challenge.
