We recommend registering your own 'proper' Domain Name, such as:

Choosing the right Domain Name:

It is no longer a simple choice - several gTLDs (Generic Top Level Domains) are available such as '.com', '.co.uk', '.net' and '.org'. For limited companies and plc's, the TLDs of '.ltd.uk' and '.plc.uk' are also available. There are also a plethora of unrestricted ccTLDs (Country Code Top Level Domains), such as '.tv', '.to', '.cc', '.vu' and so on. These are increasing in popularity, largely because most of the 'good' names have already been taken in the '.com' TLD. To add to the confusion, the first of several new gTLDs have now gone live; '.biz', '.info', '.pro' and '.name'.

We would still recommend '.com' or '.co.uk' as the preferred choices, as this is what most people are used to. For companies wishing to protect their brand name, we would recommend registering the name in the top three TLDs of '.com', '.co.uk' and '.net' (providing that all three names are still available).

Registration and Renewal:

We are members of Nominet UK - the registry for '.uk' Domain Names - and OpenSRS - a comprehensive registration and management platform for non-uk Domain Names. This enables us to register and maintain Domain Names on behalf of our clients.

Domain Names are registered to a specific company or individual for a period of two years. During this time the company or individual effectively 'owns' the name. At the end of the registration period the Domain Name may be renewed for an additional two years.

We take care of the registration and renewal process on behalf of our customers. We always ensure that the customer is notified of any pending renewals

Costs:

The cost of registering or renewing a standard gTLD domain name (i.e. '.co.uk', '.com', '.net', '.org' and '.biz') is just £25 per annum. This price includes all registry and set-up fees - there are no hidden extras.

For the more exotic names (i.e. '.tv', '.cc'. '.ca', '.au', '.us' and other ccTLDs), the cost depends on the extension chosen and in some cases the name itself. Please contact us with details of the name or names required and we will be happy to provide a fixed-price quotation.
